The brown wharf rat named Rattus norgegicus (Norwegian rat) ... aka: Wharf Rat, but the name is not proven to be correct as the rat did not originate in Norway, but came from Denmark (aboard ships during the 1700's.) This particular species of rats has spread to all many continents and is dominant in Europe and North America.
