If: y = 4x2-2x-1 and y = -2x2+3x+5

Then: 4x2-2x-1 = -2x2+3x+5

So: 6x2-5x-6 = 0

Solving the above quadratic equation: x = -2/3 and x = 3/2

Points by substitution are: (-2/3, 19/9) and (3/2, 5)

Length of line is the square root of: (-2/3 -3/2)2+(19/9-5)2 = 65/18

What is the length of the shorter leg of a right triangle if the longer leg has a length of 45 and the hypotenuse has a length of 53?

Subtract the squared longer leg's squared length from the hypotenuse's square to obtain the squared shorter leg length. Then find the square root of that answer for your final answer. In other words: 53 squared minus 45 squared equals your squared answer.

How do you find the missing length of a triangle using Pythagoras?

The length of side A squared plus the length of side B sqaured equals the missing side of the triangle squared. So i.e. if side A is 4 and side B is 3 then 4x4 which is 16 plus 3x3 which is 9 equals 25 and the square root of 25 equals 5. So in conclusion the missing side equals 5.

What is the formula for a square plus b square?

Pythagorean's theorem: Length of Side A squared times the length of Side B squared equals the length of Side C squared in a right triangle. A2+B2=C2

How do you do the pythagoreum theorem?

The pythagorean theorem states that in a right triangle, the hypotenuse ( the line opposite of the right angle) squared is the two sides squared and added up. In other words. a squared plus b squared equals c squared. C squared is the hypotenuse squared. then, you can find the length of C by finding the square root of C. Ex. right triangle has 2 sides with lengths. 4 and 5. the missing length is c. 4 squared plus 5 squared equals 16 plus 25 which is 41. square root of 41 is 6.4. That is the length of c. sorry if it's a little confusing.

How do you find length with width and diagonol numbers?

Assuming you're talking about a rectangle: Diagonal squared = length squared + width squared (Pythagoras) so: Length squared = diagonal squared - width squared ie length = sqrt (diagonal squared - width squared)

How do you work out area of a square?

Length multiplied by width equals the area of a square or rectangle A=LxW Your answer will be in units squared.

What is the formula for finding the length of the hypotenuse of a right triangle?

The forumal for finding the finding the length of the hypotenuse of a right triangle is square root of a squared plus b squared equals c. The letters a and b are the two sides that the length is known and the c is the unknown side.
