I got this question for history. It didn't say but I would guess maybe hemispheres. It is divided equally on that way.
The equator divides the Earth into two equal parts, the northern and southern hemispheres. The prime meridian divides the Earth into the equal eastern and western hemispheres.
The equator.
Prime meridian

The equator
no. the earth has not been cut. it has just been divided into two EQUAL parts by an IMAGINARY line- the equator, which has been developed for the purpose of navigation
The imaginary line that cuts the earth into two equal parts is called the equator. It is an imaginary circle around the Earth that is equidistant from the North and South poles. It divides the Earth into the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere.
The equator or any of the lines of longitude (which meet at the poles).
The equator divides the earth into two hemispheres, northern and southern. Its latitude is 0 degrees.
