Algebra is used in life every day life. It is used to calculate how energy-efficient a vehicle is, Chess, creation of technologies, calculating how fast something can move if it moves a certain way with a certain amount of force under a certain condition, etc. You need to know Algebra so you wont get ripped off when you buy/sell something at the store. yea right. to sore worker: HEY MISTER worker: yes? you: I NEED X+Y5-3/9y=?x, ?y LOAVES OF BREAD!!!! worker: ?_? that's a first....

If you can't do a problem in your head, then algebra may help. For instance, if a cork and bottle cost $ 1.05 and the bottle cost a dollar more than the cork, how

much does the cork cost? Think and use your head on this one.

Now if the total price of an object is $ 9.00 and the tax is 6%, what is the price of the object? We have Total Price = 6% * Price + Price or TP=Price(.06+1) and so Price = (Total Price)/(1.06) = $ 9.00/(1.06) = $ 8.49 (~)

How much did that cork cost?
