The chances of you finding a number divisible by 4 is 1/4 (because out of every four numbers, 1 of them is divisible by 4), and a 1/3 chance of finding a number divisible by 3 (see above). If we add them up, we get the chance, 1/4+1/3= 3/12+4/12.

Now this would be saying that finding numbers that would be divisible by 12 (the ones divisible by 3 AND 4) would count twice, and we don't want that. To counter this, we have to subtract the chances of you finding a multiple of 12 once (so that the chances of finding the multiple of 12 would count ONCE).

This translates to 3/12+4/12-1/12=6/12=1/2.

What is the probability that a year selected at random is a leap year with explanation?

The probability is very close to 0.25 A year is a leap year if the number is divisible by 4 - except if the number is divisible by 100 it is not a leap year - except if the number is divisible by 400 it is a leap year. So, in a 400-year period there are 97 leap years. The probability or relative frequency of leap years is, therefore, 97/400 = 0.2425

What is the probability that a four digit number is divisible by 2?

Even numbers are divisible by two, and half of all numbers are even, so there is a 50 percent chance that a four-digit number is divisible by two.

What is probability of rolling a number divisible by 2 on a number cube?

Well, numbers divisible by 2 are even numbers, and the even numbers from 1 to 6 are 2,4,and 6. Since there are 3 out of 6 even numbers on a number cube, there is a probability 1/2 to roll an even number on a number cube.
