Well, y= mx + b, and y is y, m is slope (aka rise over run), x is x, and b is the y-intercept (aka where the line hits the vertical axis). So is y = 2x + 5, 2 means the same thing as b, and b is rise over run. So your answer is 2. Sorry if that's really confusing. I've made it as simple as I can, but at least to me math is confusing. Best of luck!
Slope equals rise over run.
RUNRun.
Because that's the definition of 'slope'.
If you're talking about slope, it is rise over run. But why is it not the other way run over rise?
Well I think that slope is rise over run or y over x.So if y= -6+3 or -3 than the slope should be -3/x
rise divided by run: a fraction, rise is y and run is x (you run on a horizontal plane) (you rise on a vertical plane)
Slope is 'rise over run', that is rise divided by run. In this case, that's 12 divided by 6, which equals 2.
Rise over run
The slope can be remembered as "rise over run". When the slope is an integer, it means that the rise over run is positive.
a run in math is referring to slope, which is rise over run. rise is how far you travel up, and run is how far you travel over.
The number next to "x" is the slope, so the slope for y=3x+4 is 3(rise) over 1(run) or 3(up) 1(right) ; 3/1.
Rise over run gives you slope, not points
