Geometry has applications to many diverse applications. It is used in art. For example, artists use the golden ratio, they also use perspective, and other geometric constructs. It also has applications to construction, engineering, and the physical sciences. It is also useful as a high school subject to introduce reasoning and deduction skills. If you think about it we live in a geometric universe. That is, at least, on the most simplistic level 3 dimensions x, y, and z are sufficient to describe the location of things. Once you start calculating distances between objects your using geometry. Obviously geometry is very basic to many things and has a lot of applications. Understanding geometry is a good way to begin at understanding the world in which you live.
