First, I wonder just how your family obtained this when it was new since they were all manufactured for the government. The standard catalog lists a rifle (32.5 inch barrel and full stock) at $200 in NRA Poor condition and $1250 in Excellent condition. A carbine (22 inch barrel and half stock) lists at $750 in Poor and $2500 in Excellent.
value depends on overall condition.........
No liberty dollar have been made since 1873.
My research indicates that your springfield model 1873 was produced in 1880.As to value these fine old rifles range in price from 650 dollars for a gun with 60% original finish and a good bore up to 1,500 dollars for a great example with 90% original finish remaining.
Why is 1873 worth less than 1874 in the same condition?
10-15 usd
With the serial number that you have supplied, your Winchester model 1873 rifle was made in the year 1894.i would have a appraisal done on your Winchester by a member of the Winchester collectors assoc.the value could be quite high.Your Winchester model 1873 third model rifle will bring between 800-3,250 dollars for a rifle with between 10%-50% of its original finish remaining.

While I cannot say what the original price was in the year 1873,I can say that the rifle version could be bought for 18.00 dollars in 1896,and the carbine version sold for 17.50 in 1896 also.
made 1888
