Frank Bannerman was the owner of an absolutely huge military surplus business in the late 1800's and his family continued after his death in 1916. Often called the 'Father of the Army-Navy Store', Bannerman's processed fully 90% of military surplus around the turn of the 20th century and even had a private island in the Hudson River to store most of it. Bannerman also purchased the tooling and rights to the Spencer repeating shotgun and moved its production to his Brooklyn NY facility. Very unique shotgun, but not especially valuable. Rare variations in exceptional condition might bring $700, but these guns were purchased via catalog and saw hard use. Typical specimens surviving today rarely reach $300.
