This is a quadratic equation in the form of x2-2x-1 = 0 which will have two solutions and can be solved using the quadratic equation formula:

x = -b/2a + and - the square root of (b2-4ac)/2a

Whereas in this equation a = 1, b = -2 and c = -1

Solutions: x = 1-the square root of 2 or x = 1+the square root of 2

Remember that (- -2) = 2, (-2)2 = 4 and (-4*1*-1) = 4
