Water of crystallisation - Refers to water molecules that form an essential part of the crystalline structure of a compound

There are experiments that can be done the one we did at college was adding a carbonate to an acid then heating the solution to dryness and then cover and leave for a few days to crystallise. then reheat the crystals and weigh how much more water has been removed through heating.

How can you remove salts from a solution?

The process to recover salt from brine waste water. By using the differentiation in the absorption and transmission of the infrared beam between sodium chloride or potassium chloride and organic compounds, the method of irradiating the salt crystals with infrared beam is used to vaporize and disintegrate the organic compounds on their surfaces. This method provides more economic and effective means of purifying salts from brine waste water containing high concentration of organic compounds.

What is subaerial weathering?

It is where the effects of the weather have an impact of the coast/land. Physical/mechanical processes include: freeze-thaw, thermal expansion, salt crystalisation and wetting and drying. Chemical processes include: hydration, hydrolysis, oxidation, and carbonation. Biological weathering is done by animals, plants, and humic acid. All these processes need organic material present to occur, whether it is living or dead.

Why does water float and sink in water?

Water floats and sinks in water because water in water results in the mixing and diffusion of the water in the other water. This may sound silly, but the question was one dealing with water in water. The mixture of water and water will, after a time, become one homogenous volume of liquid.

DOES THE WATER CYCLE CLEAN THE WATER?

How does the rate of salt dissloved be effected by temperature?

At higher temperatures a greater amount of salt can be dissolved. Therefore, if you use a boiling solution of water and dissolved salt until it is saturated, then let the solution cool down, the salt comes out of solution in the form of crystalisation.

Is sea salt moist?

SEA SALT CONTAINS WATER OF CRYSTALISATION BUT APPEARS DRY. Sort of. It has more moisture than table salt which is from a mine while sea salt is a natural product from the ocean. If you have some make sure you store it in something that is not metal because it will react to the metal.

What is re-crystalisation?

recrystallization is where an igneous rock gets broken up and the crystals get merged together to create rubber when it is hot and when it cools it becomes hard and breaks up again, this time hot and melts away. aka. it it a waste of rock lolololololo lolo
