What is y-intecept?

Y-intercept is the point at which the line crosses the y-axis (going vertically). The formula that defines a line in a two dimensional system (x and y coordinates) is y=mx+b;

where m is the slope of the line ( the change in the y coordinate value for very unit of change in the x coordinate value) and b is the y value when x=0 (the y intercept, or the point at which the line crosses the y axis).
