A "diamond" is a quadrilateral, but there technically isn't a polygon called a "diamond"

Technically speaking a "diamond" is either a square or rhombus turned 45 degrees, which is why many people think they are a different shape. If a quadrilateral has four congruent angles it's called a rectangle. If a quadrilateral has four congruent sides it's called a rhombus. If it has congruent angles andsides it's called a square. These things are true regardless of the shape's orientation (how it's turned or rotated).
