He placed the sun in the middle with the planets orbiting it.
He was the first person in history to create a complete and general system, combining mathematics, physics, and cosmology.

The mechanical model (gears and the like) of Copernicus is much easier to make than Ptolemy's.
Nicolas Copernicus first said this in the early 1500's. Before him, most people thought that the solar system revolved around the Earth. However, if one watches the planets for enough nights, eventually they will make some strange loops that Ptolemy called "epicycles" Ptolemy's system, which lasted for about 2,000 years, was extremely complicated. Copernicus's system, though, was relatively simple; he drew perfect circles (Johannes Kepler later proved that planets follow elliptical orbits) to represent the orbits of the planets known at the time. Despite his one inaccuracy (perfect circles), Copernicus's theory was still one giant step in the right direction.
his astronomical discoveries were when he predicted an astroid would crash on the moon he made that discovery with his invention a telescope galil later on said copernicus did not make the telescope that he did so then when the astroid landed on the moon the astroid was named after nicolaus copernicus but copernicus was also a criminal he shot and murdered someone now if u copied this either u have to erase everything or get a new sheet of paper cuz this was a waste of paper i just gave you false information copernicus never murdered some one or did he o_O d
He placed the Sun in the middle of the Solar System, instead of the original format where the Sun, Earth, and moon were all in the middle.

He put the sun at the centre of the solar system, not the Earth as favoured by religion.

Copernicus showed that the assumption that our Earth went around our Sun, and not the other way around, makes astronomical calculations much easier. It would appear that he thought this was an actual, physical fact about our solar system, but his publisher put in a preface that leaves this a bit ambiguous.
Tolosani claimed Copernicus made his biggest error by using "inferior" fields of study to make statements about the "superior" fields. Copernicus used Math and Astronomy to postulate about Physics and Cosmology. Others used principles of Physics and Cosmology to determine principles of Math and Astronomy. Tolosani felt Copernicus was undermining the entire system of science. He said Copernicus fell into philosophical error because he was not knowledgeable in physics and logic. To him, anyone who did not know physics and logic would be unable to make a good astronomer, and not be able to tell truth from falsehood. A simpler answer: Copernicus thought the planets moved in circular orbits. Kepler later showed they move in elliptical orbits.
