A negative added to a negative is a negative. So adding a third negative is still a negative. Subtracting a - from a - is a -. So, subtracting a third - is still a -. No matter what operation you do, three negatives is a negative.

A number multiplied by zero is always zero because zero is nothing, and if you have, for an example, the number one, and you have one zero times it is nothing. Another example is if you have no money, and i say i will triple all of your money, you will still have no money.
One half multiplied by one is equal to one half. This is because when you multiply a fraction by a whole number, you simply multiply the numerator of the fraction by the whole number while keeping the denominator the same. In this case, 1/2 multiplied by 1 equals 1/2.
