A home page for a website is the very first page - the landing page. So, for example, Google's home page is google.com, and the home page for this site is answers.com. A home page for a browser is the page you choose to load first when you open the browser - it can be anything you want it to be. For example, my browser of choice is FireFox. FireFox by default has it's home page set to mozilla.com, so every time I open FireFox it opens on mozilla.com. If I want to, I can change this to open google.com when FireFox opens. You can find out how to change your browser's home page by visiting your favorite browser's website and looking up the instructions.
Actually some people got the same problem, and it seems the main cause is the misconfiguration of the firefox itself. some firefox plugins are not so friendly with google maps. if you're not sure which plugin does the problem, try to disable all plugins, reset anything in firefox. run it with command-line firefox -safe-mode and disable, reset anything...you will see the maps are back... works for my firefox, how about yours?AdditionallyIf all else fails try another web browser. Google Chrome, for example, plays very nicely with the Google Maps.
There are several deifferent web browsers to choose from. Some of the main browsers are Firefox, Safari, Google Chrome, and Internet Explorer. There is an add-on for Firefox that is called Adbock Plus. If you add that to your browser, then many ads can be filtered out. It is configurable, so you can decide which ads to block. Other add-ons that could be valuable are NoScript and FlashBlock. To install any of these, select "Add-ons" from either the Firefox or Tools drop down on the main Firefox menu (it could be in a different place, depending on what OS and browser version you are using). Once you find add-ons, then use the search area to search for any of these. Read about them and know what you can do with them before you install.
Pop up Blockers are part of a Web Browser and not the Mac OS. In Safari go into the main Safari menu and select "Block Pop Up Windows", In FireFox you go into the FireFox Preferences/ Contents/ select "Block Pop Up Windows"
