Where bus topology used?

Bus topology is used on a LAN, or a Local Area Network. It is the cable to which the nodes connect, and it is also known as a backbone.

What are the purposes of Local Area Networks?

The purpose of Local Area Networks (LAN) is to connect computers in the nearby area. This is often used in places such as schools, a laboratory or at home, for example.

What device is used to junction between local area network and wide area networks?

A router.

What network topologies are most commonly used on today's networks?

star topology. Because they include a centralized connection point; can easily be moved, isolated, or interconnected with other networks; they are, therefore, scalable. For this reason, and because of their fault tolerance, the star topology has become the most popular layout used in contemporary LANs.

What is the differce between subnet and wide area network?

Subnets are designed for local area networks (LANS) that are used in an organization or building. Wide area networks cover larger areas and don't use subnets.

How is a LAN used?

A LAN, as in Local Area Networks, is used to connect a group of computers together to share resources and exchange information.

What is lan design?

The process of planning a local area network, including (but not limited to), IP address space (# of hosts), media used, topology, etc.

What is difference between Ethernet and DSL?

Yes, those are two quite different technologies.Ethernet is used mainly within local area networks; DSL is used mainly to achieve an Internet connection, between a client and an ISP.Yes, those are two quite different technologies.Ethernet is used mainly within local area networks; DSL is used mainly to achieve an Internet connection, between a client and an ISP.Yes, those are two quite different technologies.Ethernet is used mainly within local area networks; DSL is used mainly to achieve an Internet connection, between a client and an ISP.Yes, those are two quite different technologies.Ethernet is used mainly within local area networks; DSL is used mainly to achieve an Internet connection, between a client and an ISP.

Repeaters are typically used on what type of networks?

Either a Bus topology or Wireless repeating, depends on how the question is stated...

What network is used in school network?

I assume you are talking about network topology. I have worked in several schools in a couple school districts. Some older school networks were setup on a token ring. I think it would be safe to assume that most networks are now a star topology using ethernet.

What do you mean by metropolitan area network?

A metropolitan area network (MAN) is a network that interconnects users with computer resources in a geographic area or region larger than that covered by even a large local area network (LAN) but smaller than the area covered by a wide area network (WAN). The term is applied to the interconnection of networks in a city into a single larger network (which may then also offer efficient connection to a wide area network). It is also used to mean the interconnection of several local area networks by bridging them with backbone lines. The latter usage is also sometimes referred to as a campus network. Examples of metropolitan area networks of various sizes can be found in the metropolitan areas of London, England; Lodz, Poland; and Geneva, Switzerland. Large universities also sometimes use the term to describe their networks. A recent trend is the installation of wireless MANs.

How are millimeter waves used in everyday life?

They are used in telecommunications for high-speed wireless broadband communication and point-to-point wireless local area networks (WLANs).
