In the late 1060s CE Omar Khayyam, when he was about 20 years old, published a treatise on algebra which contained the first demonstration of how to solve Cubic equations.
In 1074 CE he was summoned by Sultan Jalalu'd-Din Malikshah to revise the calendar and to build an observatory. The new calendar "the Jalali Era" began on 16th March 1079 CE.

According to my history text book, which is Glencoe World History, Omar Khayyam is most famous for writing The 1001 Nights (also called The Arabian Nights)
He contributed to Islamic civilisation in the form of poetry, specifically the Rubiyat (Quatrains) for which he is most famous. He was also a famous Mathematician.
It was written by Omar Khayyam, a Persian poet. There have been several translations/adaptations into English, the most famous of which is by Edward Fitzgerald.

Rubaiyat is a form of poetry, just like a sonnet or limerick is a form of poetry. Rubaiyat is the Arabic word for Quatrain and, like quatrains, rubaiyats are poems made of four verses and can be written by anyone. The most famous rubaiyats are those of Omar Khayyam, who was a Persian poet and polymath.
One example of a contradiction in The Rubaiyat is the tension between themes of fatalism and free will. Khayyam explores the idea of predestined fate while also emphasizing the importance of making the most of the present moment. This interplay between acceptance of destiny and the pursuit of personal agency creates a contradiction within the text.
True. Omar Khayyam is the most well-known of the classical Persian poets, and his 4-line rhyming verses, Rubaiyat, created the basis of poetical works in the Dari language.

While the material cargo on board the Titanic was undoubtedly valuable, there was not real treasure on board. The most valuable cargo in material terms would be a jeweled copy of the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam, a series of Persian poems. Otherwise, the most valuable cargo on board were the human lives that sank with the ship.
