If it is an engineered set of electrical plans you need written permission from the engineer to change any materials on the specified plan.If the plans are not engineered specific then you need to get authorisation from the customer to use different lighting fixtures. No matter which way you go, the one thing that has to be adhered to is that the lighting fixtures must be CSA or UL approved devices. If the fixtures do not have these safety approvals you run the risk of the electrical project not getting an electrical approval for connection to an utility supply.Remember there is a lot of Chinese counterfeit electrical equipment that is cheap to buy in the market place but it is not safe to use. Check with your insurance company on the subject if in doubt.
