I think there are 10 mm in each cm so a termite would be 1/2 a cm long. Multiply 1/2 by 60 and you get and answer of 30. I believe there are 10 mm in each cm - so this would make a termite 1/2 a cm long. All you do is multiply 1/2 by 60 to get an answer of 30.

I will base my answer on the dampwood termite, the largest termite in the USA, and which is found in the rainy forests of the Pacific Coast and in Southern Florida. The workers and soldiers of this species can grow to 5/8" (1.5875cm) in length when fully grown.

Therefore a chain of 60 such termites would be 95.25cm (1.5875cm x 60)

Assuming a termite is 1/2 inches in length, convert that to the metric system. There are 2.54 centimetres in an inch, so each termite is 1.27 centimetres. Conver that to milimetres by multiplying by 10. You get 12.7 mm for the average termite size.

Take 12.7mm and multiply by 60 to get your answer! (762mm)

60 termites of 5 mm each will make a chain that is 300 mm long.

1000 mm = 1 metre so 300 mm = 300/1000 = 0.3 metres.
