No, but for neatness most electricians match the incoming and outgoing sets Code states that the conductors should be wire nutted together, black to black, white to white, ground to ground and pigtails from these connections should be connected under the screws to the receptacle. This way if the receptacle is removed from the circuit the rest of the circuit stays intact. Although pigtailing is the preferred method at all times, the pigtailing requirement of the NEC CODE only applies to multi-wire branch circuits where the neutral is being shared Guess a slight difference between CEC and NEC.
