New answer: If you remove the inner glove box and look inside and to the right you will see the ECM. It just pops in on some small brackets.
ts located under the dash below the heater controls and beside the steering column.
Automatic? Probably the 700R4. The 700R4 was replaced by the 4L60-E in 1993 in the 1500 series.
4l60-e
4l60-e
NO.
4L60-E or 4L80-E.
The correct answer is a resounding MAYBE. It depends on what vehicle the 1993 is. Camaro, Caprice, corvette, firebird and yukons all got the 700r4 in 1993. Astros, Blazers, Suburbans, c&k 1500, and G series (vans) all got the 700r4 (aka 4L60) until 1992. in 1993 the 4l60e and 4L80e were introduced. They WILL NOT WORK IN A TRUCK BUILT BEFORE 1993. The 700r4 (4L60) is a vacuum shifted gearbox, the 4L60E & 4L80E are ELECTRONICALLY shifted (hence the "E"). The primitive "computer" used up until 1992 WILL NOT support the Electronic shift.
E. C. M. d'Assis-Fonseca died in 1993.

I believe it is a 4L60-E, the upgraded 700-R4, although I do not know for sure.
