Firing order 1342 OK but where is #1 on cap
where is the number one plug wire go to on the distrubiter cap on a i995 Honda delco
Pull distributer and bring number one cylinder all the way to the top, then drop the distributer in, that will bring it very close so you can bring it in or out with a small turn.
where ever you want it to be just make sure you put the motor at top dead center on cylinder number one and stab the distributer where the rotor points at on the cap is number one and just go clock wise order and use the Chevy firing order
first run number one cylinder to top dead center on the compression stroke. then set the distributer till the firing tip on the roder is pointing directly at the number 1 spark plug wire on the distributer cap.
Depending on maker, it should have a number 1 raised letter on the cap
The usual spelling is distributor (one who distributes or markets). The spelling distributer is a rarely-used variant.
did u have the timing in the engine pulled down or did you have the distributer out if only distributer was out it may be one tooth off being in right place try using a timing light sure sounds like the distributor is one tooth off find #1 pison set it at top dead centre. find which point on distributer should be number one in firing order then mak a mark on distributer lift distributer out and rotate shaft a little till rotar points at mark then reinstall the use timing light to get it exact
well this could be a number of things... cracked distributer cap? rotor wore out? cam problem? distributer gear wore out? timing chain jumpin? one of these would be my first guess
#1 is the wire connection just to the right of center on the front of the distributer. firing order is 18436572 in counterclockwise direction
400 ci Chevy, 400 ci Ford, 400 ci Chrysler, need to know which 400.
facing car from the front..4 3 2 1..the distributer will have a line near where you put number one spark plug..you will have to look in your manual for firing order of distributer.
there is one on the flyweel through the little hole on top of the transmission--there is another one the cam timing on the cam gear itself it is a little dot that lines up with the top of the head when the valve cover is off the othe is the distributer timing - therotor should point to a small notchon the rim of the distributer when on the number one cylinder
