If a quadrilateral has four equal angles, then it is also a rectangle. It can also be a square if it has equal sides as well.
The rectangle on the US flag, known as the canton, contains the stars representing the 50 states of the Union. It symbolizes unity and the collective identity of the states as part of a single nation. The blue background signifies vigilance, perseverance, and justice, while the red and white stripes represent valor and purity, respectively. Together, these elements reflect the values and ideals of the United States.

Do you mean nation states as in, for example, Japan? A state is a political entity with recognize borders, which may be comprised of any people, while a nation is a group of people and does not have such borders. A nation state, therefore, is a group of the same people with officially recognize borders. Nation states would be represented on maps because they have official borders. As far as a nation of people is concerned, I have no idea. I do not know what you mean by "people" not being shown on a map. There are some maps which show the average number of people per square mile/kilometer though.
