Possibly a face - or an edge. It would help if the question was properly phrased.
One side or edge times another. (length x width = area)
It's hard to explain without having a cube, but imagine one. The top face has 4 edges. The bottom face has 4 edges. That makes 8. There are 4 side faces, take one of them. This side also has for edges, but note that two of the edges (top and bottom edge) were already counted by counting the top and bottom faces. Thus, this side only contributes 2 more to the count of 8, making 10. The side opposite this is in a similar situation; only 2 edges can be counted. Making 12. The two remaining sides both have 4 edges, but the top edge has been counted by the top face, bottom by bottom face, left side by one of sides, right side by the other side. therefore, the two remaining faces contribute no edge that has not yet been counted, and a cube has 12 edges total.
A side is basically a geometric shape; and edge is where two sides met.

No. It is the line where two faces meet.
The edge should face away from the plate.

A place where two faces meet is called an edge.

There are arrow marks on the side skirts for the jack. Look under and you'll see how the jacks slot fits side ways on an edge that's right behind the side skirt.
