Because the switch has a fault and needs replacing before you waste a whole lot of energy (which you pay for).
Try checking the neutral safety switch. This switch is the one in automatic transmissions that makes the backup lights "flip" on when going from park to drive as you go through the gears. When my neutral safety switch shorted my backup lights stayed on constantly.
To wire a ceiling light with a switch on the wall using the four wires, first identify the purpose of each wire: typically, two will be hot (black), and two will be neutral (white). Connect the hot wire from the switch to the black wire going to the ceiling light. Then, connect the other black wire to the power source, and join the two white wires together as neutrals. Ensure all connections are secure and follow local electrical codes for safety.
potential will not get to your starter.. causing your engine not to crank..
Neutral safety switch improperly adjusted or going bad
A neutral safety switch makes sure that the gear select is either in neutral, or park, befor a car is allowed to start. No, it will not stop a trans for allowing you to put it in reverse.
On my 2002 S-10 truck, the neutral safety switch (also called the Park Neutral Position Switch, or PNP switch) is located on the driver's side of the transmission. It is a black box that has 2 electrical connections going into it. There is a very good chance that it is in the same location on your 2000 Blazer. Hope this helps.
get a test light and see if there is juice going into the switch and juice coming out of it.
THE NEUTRAL SWITCH ON A 97 DODGE 2500 IS LOCATED ON THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE TRANSMISSION TOWARD THE MIDDLE JUST ABOVE THE OIL PAN. THERE WILL BE THREE WIRES GOING TO IT, WITH A BLACK PLUG. No ... A bad neutral safety switch will let the car start in any gear, but will not prevent the car from going into reverse
On top of the steering column near the firewall under the dash. There will be a metal rod going into the bottom of the switch.
the thermostat has a black(line) wire to it, and a red wire going to it. the red wire then connects to the neutral wire. the black and red are like a leg switch.
To wire a French light switch, first, ensure the power is turned off at the circuit breaker. Connect the live wire (usually brown) to one terminal of the switch and the wire going to the light fixture (also brown) to the other terminal. The neutral wire (typically blue) should be connected directly to the light fixture, without going through the switch. Finally, secure the switch in its box and restore power to test the installation.
