Most countries in the world use the metric system.
Only three countries-Burma, Liberia, and the US-have not adopted the International System of Units (SI, or metric system)
The metric system is much easier to use than the imperial system
because everything works off base 10
so easy calculations
eg
10 millimeters to a centimeter
10 centimeters to a decimeter (not used often)
10 decimeters to a meter
10 meters to a kilometer
Basic Metric system
10^12 - Tera
10^9 - Giga
10^6 - Mega
10^3 - Kilo
10 - Unit
10^-3 - Milli
10^-6 - Micro
10^-9 - Nana
10^-12 - Pico
put at end: eg Gigabyte, Kilogram, Megawatt
Bytes (computer memory)
Watts (energy)
liters (liquids)
grams (mass)
It is simple, logical, globally accepted. I see no reason why the US wouldn't want to use it.
I don't know. That is a very good question. I think it might be because we wanted a simpler way of measuring things.
Standardization.
The rest of the (intelligent) world is using the metric system and a global standard (metric) will prevent confusion and promote understanding of units.
The U.S.A. should join the modern world in using the metric system.
You should always use the metric system.
No
The US does not use the metric system.

There isn't a separate US metric system, the metric system is international and the same everywhere. So one kilometre in the U.S.A. is one kilometre.

The US teaches the metric system to students to help them understand and communicate with the rest of the world, where the metric system is widely used. Additionally, many scientific fields in the US use the metric system, so it's important for students to be familiar with it for academic and professional purposes.

To comply with the internationally accepted SI units.
1 metric ton = 2,204.62 pounds Gallons depends on the weight of the fluid.

We could. but we'd need the president to "okay" it. we just like to be different.
