Most Britons are conversant with both Celsius and Fahrenheit. Resistance to the Celsius system was partly due to the larger size of each degree Celsius, resulting in the need for fractions, where integral Fahrenheit degrees were adequate for much technical work. The lower zero point in the Fahrenheit system reduced the number of negative signs when measurements such as weather data were averaged
the US is used to this system (not keen on change) also they do not use the Metric system either like they do in most countries, they also do not have a Universal health care system, eventually all this will change with different generations one would think.
