There is no rule in algebra that says "If equals are added to the numerator and denominator,
then the value of the fraction is unchanged."
If it worked, then 0/2 would be equal to 1/3 , which is patently ridiculous.
So you're left with no good reason to expect them to be equivalent.
8/24 = 1/3
1/4
2/3 and 8/12
2/5
1/8 = 8/64
cause 8/12 can be divided by 4 on both sides and it can be reduced to 2/3
8/2 is one example.
10/16, 15/24
3/8 - 3/4 = 3/8 - 6/8 = (-3/8)
3 over 4 minus 3 over 8 can be simplified by finding a common denominator, which in this case is 8. Rewriting 3 over 4 as 6 over 8, the subtraction becomes 6 over 8 minus 3 over 8, which equals 3 over 8.
The equivalent fraction of 4/5 is 8/10
the answer is 6 over 8, or 3 over 4. ( 3 over 4 is the simplified one )
