The best way to look at this is to look at the powers near zero (powers of 1, 2 and 3) and try to see a pattern.

103 = 1000

102 = 100

101 = 10

100 = 1

Each time the power is reduced by one, the answer is divided by 10. Therefore when we reach 100, the answer is 1 (not 0 which is a common mistake).
