A 1999 Yamaha Grizzly has no spark and the dealer spent several hours trying to find the problem with no results Any ideas?

Get a new dealer I do agree with the above answer as well, but... This is from my repair manual for a 2006 Grizzly 660. IGNITION SYSTEM ELEC TROUBLESHOOTING IF THE IGNITION SYSTEM FAILS TO OPERATE (NO SPARK OR INTERMITTENT SPARK Procedure Check: 1.Fuse (main, ignition) 2.Battery 3.Spark plug 4.Ignition spark gap 5.Spark plug cap resistance 6.Ignition coil resistance 7.Engine stop switch 8.Main switch 9.Pickup coil resistance 10.Charging/rotor rotation direction detection coil resistance 11.Wiring connection (the entire ignition system) NOTE: Remove the following part(s) before troubleshooting: 1)Seat 2)Fuel tank side panels 3)Front carrier 4)Front fender Use the following special tool(s) for troubleshooting. Dynamic spark tester: P/N. YM-34487Ignition checker: P/N. 90890-06754 Pocket tester: P/N. YU-03112, 90890-03112 CONTINUITY 1.Fuse (main, ignition) Refer to "CHECKING THE SWITCH". NO CONTINUITY Replace the fuse. CORRECT 2.Battery Check the battery condition. Refer to "CHECKING THE BATTERY" in CHAPTER 3. Open-circuit voltage: 12.8 V or more at 20 °C (68 °F) INCORRECT Clean the battery terminals. Recharge or replace the battery. 3.Spark plug Check the spark plug condition. Check the spark plug type. Check the spark plug gap.

How many volts are needed to cause electricity to jump 1 cm?

The dielectric field strength of air is 4 to 30 kV/cm. So a voltage of less than 4 kV is not enough to cause a spark to jump a 1 cm air gap. A voltage over 30 kV is plenty to cause a spark to jump a 1 cm air gap. Within that range, pointy conductors allow a spark to form at lower voltage than smoothly rounded conductors. Different gases and gas pressures also have an effect on the exact voltage required to produce a spark.

How do you tune up a infinity I 30?

The infinity I 30 does not have spark plug wires. It is recommended you use platinum tipped spark plugs. I used Iridium tipped with excellent results. Premium gas for this car is a must. Anything less robs the engine of power and it will idle roughly.

On Amy macdonalds new album a curious thing what is track number two called?

Why doesnt the student receive a shock when she stands on a piece of insulating material places her hand on top of a Van de Graaff generator and then turns the generator on?

She is not shocked. She becomes part of the dome of the Van de Graaff, and charges flow onto her body. They do not jump to her body through a spark, so she is not shocked.

What is the difference between a spark and lightning?

It's exactly the same phenomenon; lightning is just a very large spark.

Is lightning electrostatic discharge?

Yes, it is. It's like a bigger version of when you see a spark after you wear cotton socks and rub them against a wool carpet. moo

What is it called when lightning strikes the ground?

Static discharge is causes the spark that is seen when electricity in a thunderhead discharges. The most common name for this type of spark or discharge is lightening.

What is the spark plug gap for a Brigs and Stratten generator?

the plug gap for generator is 0.70 mm

What kind of lightning has no thunder?

A spark jumping between two wires is an example of lightning (on a much smaller scale) that may make a fizzing sound, but no thunder. It is the vast electrical charge of nature that super-heats the column of air down which the lightning (natural spark on a much bigger scale) travels, that leave a vacuum in its wake. It is the air crashing back to fill that vacuum, that create the thunder.

What is the average temperature of a spark?

It depends on the spark...For most small electrostatic sparks, the kind you might see in school from a Van Der Graff generator, the temperature is around 4000oC - 5000oC, close to the temperature of the surface of the Sun.For the largest sparks - lightning - the temperature can reach around 30,000oC.

Is thermal energy required to form lightning?

No, lightning is just a big spark of static electricity.

What is a gigantic electrical spark in the earth's atmosphere?

lightning

Is lightning a giant spark caused by static electricity?

no

How much energy is in an lightning bolt?

If you catch on spark of a lightning bolt, it can give electricity to the world for a year.

What is CDI for a scooter?

it is similar to an IC - intergrated circuit, but it is much bigger. It controls the highvontage current that run to the spark plug. That current will make a small lightning at intervals at the other end of the spark plug. The little lightning will burn the fuel gas in the clylinder, making engine work.
