because a sphere is the most stable shape when gravity is located at the center. All points are equa-distance from the center, to experience the same gravitational force. A triangle is not, and so some places are further from the center and would have vastly different gravitational forces. These forces would cause pressure difference that would try to force the triange to become a sphere.
