Because there are no integers x and y tat are coprime, such that x/y = sqrt(62). The proof requires knowledge of the unique prime factorisation theorem. If you know that theorem, you will have also learned why sqrt(62) is irrational. And if you have not, this site is not best suited to learn about the theorem.
