It is not always useless.

Usually using non-standard units is not useful because you know how many lots of some unit there are but have no idea what each unit is worth.

So if I tell you that my school was 1.5 nukwa from my home, you would not know what that means. A "nukwa"(which is "miles" typed using the letter to the imediate left) is a made up unit and only I know how long it is.

But if I told some of my friends that the school playground was three times the size of my garden, they would know what that meant. Although the measurement would be useless to anyone who does not know me, those who did know me and my garden would know what I meant and, in that respect, the measurement is not at all useless.

You use phrases like she was older than me, or he was bigger than me all the time. My age and my size are NOT standard units but you will know what I mean. So the question is based on a fallacy that non-standard units are necessarily unknown to the audience.

How do you explain importance of standard units?

Standard units are used for measurements. it is taken as a fundamental unit.

Why do you measure using standard units instead of measuring with any kind of units?

Standard units are more commonly used than non standard units. Also, many of the conversion factors, such as the Universal Gravitational Constant or the Speed of Light, are in standard units and, if your measurements were not in appropriate units, you would need to convert.

What are different laws in measurements?

One of the different laws in measurement is that the scale used has to be standard. Moreover, there are three standard units, the second, kilogram, and the meter.

What does a high figure of standard error mean?

A large degree of variation between individual measurements, in terms of the units used.

Why measurement are meaningless if standard units are not used?

"How long is a piece of string!" is another way of saying measurements can't be accurate unless standard weights and measures are universally accepted and used.

What system is used to make all scientific measurements?

The metric system is used to make all scientific measurements. It provides a standard set of units for measuring length, mass, volume, temperature, and other quantities.

Do The system of units used for measurements in chemistry is called the?

The system of units used for measurements in chemistry is called the International System of Units (SI). It is a globally recognized system that provides a consistent set of units for measuring physical quantities.

Measurements are meaningless if standard units are used why is that?

To explain WHY that statement is true would be almost impossible, because thestatement is false.Measurements are meaningless if standard units are NOT used. They are meaningfulONLY if standard units ARE used. The reason is that in order for your measurementsto mean anything to someone else, he has to know and understand the units of yourmeasurement. It doesn't tell you a thing to know that I'm 2,645.02 time-units old,254 length-units tall, and weigh 6.318 weight-units. You need definitions of thoseunits before you know anything about me.

What units of kilograms can be used in measurements?

It is used in the measurement of mass.

Why are si measurements used in science classes?
