Simply because of particle size. The size of the Golf ball means there are a lot of large spaces created in between them, therefore leaving large holes. The sand is very fine, and it can be compacted to leave very little gaps.

Where can I buy bocce balls that are water filled?

You can always buy them online, or at least at most tourist beaches. That's because water filled balls are common to use in the sand. (I would imagine)

Do they put helium in soccer balls?

No, soccer balls are filled with ordinary air If they were filled with helium, they would float into the skyHelium filled soccer balls would certainly not "fly into the sky"! The difference in mass of an air filled ball and one filled with helium would be but a few grams! But the helium (having a much smaller molecule than those that comprise air) would leak out of the bladder more quickly. In addition Helium is much more expensive than compressed air.

Why are foot balls filled with air and not water?

They would be way too heavy if you fill them with water.

For what reason would porosity be used?

Porosity, or empty space may used in fields like ceramics, pharmaceutics, manufacturing, engineering, and soil mechanics. Each field has different scenarios when porosity would be used.

What is the relationship between porosity bulk density and particle density?

If you were to graph particle size and porosity, it would be a constant slope (horizontal line).Porosity is not affected by particle size.

What rock would have the greatest porosity?

sandstone

Why should the cement aggregate be well graded?

A variation in aggregate side (well graded) allows the concrete to be more dense, which means less voids, which allows for stronger concrete. Think of it this way. If you had a two rooms, and you filled one with just basketballs and the other with beach balls, then basket balls, then baseballs, then golf balls, then bee bees which would you think would be filled more. The one with the varying sized balls.

Does metamorphic rocks have a higher porosity than sedimentary rocks?

Metamorphic rocks would have less porosity than sedimentary rocks.

What does it mean if a rock has a high porosity?

Sedimentary rocks are composed of clasts or grains that have been pressed together. The gaps or spaces between these grains are known as pores or pore spaces. As such Porosity is a measurement of the volume of pore space compared to the total volume of the rock and is usually expressed as a percentage. As such a rock that has a high porosity has a very large amount of pore space compared to its total volume. For example a rock with a porosity of 50% would essentially be composed of 5o% solid material and 50% empty space (whcih may in turn be filled with fluid or gas or a mixture of the two.

The soil with the greatest porosity would have?

round particles of the same size.
