80/1000=0.08
3.14*0.08=0.2512
25/0.2512=99.52
Improved Answer:
25 over (pi×0.08) = 99.47183943 or 99.47 to two decimal places
2nd improvement:
"25 over pi × 0.08" could mean 25/(π×0.08) or (25/π)×0.08 depending on how the question was actually presented to you.
The first one has already been covered (the improvement showing you should always reduce the significant figures at the end - simplifying to 3.14 at the beginning gives quite a large error) so:
Assuming , (25/π)×0.08 remember that 0.08 = 8/100 = 2/25
so the problem turns into 25/π × 2/25
cancelling the 25s we get 2/π which was probably the answer they wanted.
Where you go from there depends on which approximation you're using for π
Using a decimal approximation gives about 0.6366,
22/7 gives 2 ÷ 22/7 = 2 ×7/22 = 7/11
Sorry the pi symbol π comes out badly on this site!
As an aside, one of my favourite approximations for π is 355/113. Read it from the bottom and you get 113355 which is really easy to remember and the fraction is amazingly accurate - it gets the first 6 digits after the decimal point correct!
The circumference C is pi times the diameter of the circle, which is twice the radiusC= pi *2rThe area A is pi times the radius squaredA = pi r2where pi = about 3.14159Example:For a radius of a 3 cmC = pi x (3 x 2) = pi x 6 = about 18.85 cmA = pi x (3)2 = pi x 9 = about 28.275 cm2
Diameter = 50 inches Radius = 25 inches Area of circle = pi x 25 x 25 = 3.1415 x 625 = 1963.44 square inches which is equivalent to 1963.44/144 = 13.63 square feet
You use the formula: area = pi x radius squared If you approximate pi with 3.14, and replace the square with a product, that becomes: area = 3.14 x radius x radius
You get the largest area with a circle. Divide the perimeter by (2 x pi), then calculate the area with the formula pi x radius2.You get the largest area with a circle. The area of a circle = (pi) x radius squared radius = 1/2 diameter 3.14 x 5 feet squared 3.14 x 25 = 78.5 square feet
The circumference is Pi x r x r.... In THIS case it's .25 x .25 x Pi... which equals 0.19634375
Just over 25' ( 8 x pi)
Area of Circle = pi x r^2 = pi x 25 x 25 = pi x 625 If you need a decimal answer multiply 625 x 3.14159
A little over 25 feet ( 8 X Pi )
78.50
25 pi sqft A= pi X r2 A= 3.14 X 52 A= 3.14 X 25 A= 78.5 ft.2
25 x pi sqft
The best answer is 25π. You can approximate pi as a decimal as 3.14159. In that case, 25π ~= 78.53975
A square of side 5 would have an area of 25 sqft, but a circle of circumference 20 ft would have a bigger area: circumference = 2 x pi x r = 20 so r = 10/pi. Area = pi x r x r = pi x 10/pi x 10/pi which = 100 pi /pi x pi ie 100/pi which is about 31.8 sq ft.
12.5 x Pi = 39.2625
C = pi x d (14/7) = pi x d 2/pi = d
A circle, radius 10/pi has an area of pi x 10/pi x 10/pi ie 100pi/pi2 ie 100/pi ie 31.8; A square 5 to the side has an area of 25.
