No. if the floor is smooth you must have friction between the ladder and the floor, or the ladder would just slide away. Technically you could do without friction between wall and ladder, but even that can be helpful in preventing the ladder from going sideways.

How does friction influence?

Friction is caused when objects or substances bump into each other. When you swim you create friction between you and the water which is called Fluid friction. Better yet look it up

Why do people wax their snowboards?

The wax protects the board against moisture and help reduce friction with the snow for a better ride.

Is Traction affected by friction?

Yes, traction is affected by friction. Friction between a surface and an object can either increase or decrease the traction, depending on the circumstances. More friction typically means better traction, while less friction can lead to reduced traction.

What are the examples when friction is desirable?

Friction is desirable in situations such as driving a car (to maintain traction on the road), walking (to prevent slipping), and writing with a pen or pencil (to create friction against the paper for better control).

What substance is place in a bow to increase friction?

Rosin is typically used on the bow to increase friction between the bow hair and the strings of the instrument, allowing for better sound production.

How is static friction and rolling friction similar?

They are both forms of friction. rolling friction occurs because two objects are rubbing against each other. under a microscope you would see that the two objects have bumps and these bumps run into each other, causing both objects to change velocity. thus rolling friction resists the relative motion of two objects. however, static friction occurs when two objects are pressed against each other and they have the same velocity, the microscopic bumps have time to sink in to each otherand creates a better grip than rolling friction. thus static friction resists any relative motion between two objects and is the reason why pushing a car is sudenly easier when it has some motion.

What Has the greatest amount of friction between solid surfaces?

Solids that are actually glued, or better yet soldered, together.

How is sliding friction shown in field hockey?

Sliding friction in field hockey is demonstrated when the player's feet slide on the ground as they change direction or come to a sudden stop. This friction helps players control their movements on the field by providing resistance against the sliding motion. The type of shoes worn by field hockey players, with studs or cleats, also play a role in enhancing sliding friction for better traction on the field.

When a cars tires are stuck in snow or mud is it better to have more less friction and why?

It is better to have less friction because it will be easier to get out.

How can you charge your mobile using friction?

Taking the battery out of the phone and rubbing it back and forth against cloth. Although, you would think it would be the static charge from the friction that could help the battery work but its actually the heat generated from the friction. Because phone batteries work better when they are warmed.

What does political leaning mean?

Beggers are better than BJP in doing and earning.

How friction help standing on a shower mat?

Friction prevents your feet from slipping on the shower mat by creating a resistance against the movement. The textured surface of the mat increases the friction between your feet and the mat, providing better grip and stability to help you stand securely while showering.
