The volume of any prism can be found by calculating the area of the base and multiplying it by the height of the prism. Recall that a prism is a solid shape composed of a base that is a polygon. By translating that base "up" and adding the "sides" to create the solid shape, you have constructed the prism. And now you can calculate its volume.

Note that the base could be triangular, or could be a square, a pentagon, hexagon, or any other polygon. Standard rules apply for calculating the areas of these polygons.
