a non linear graph pretty much means the points on the graph do not create a straight line. in order for a graph to be linear both the x axis and y axis have to increase/decrease at a constant rate, while in a non-linear graph when you connect the point it creates a line that isn't straight. however, in experimental data if the points are a bit off, but still in one general area, it can be considered linear.

What is the difference between a linear graph and a non linear graph?

Linear graphs make straight lines. Non-linear graphs make thins like parabolas, hyperbolas, and ellipses

How can you decide from a graph whether a relationship is linear?

You can decide from a graph wheter a ralationship is linear or non linear if the line is staight is linear but if the line is not straight is not linear.

Can you make predictions from a non linear graph?

no you cannot

What is the difference between a linear graph and a non-linear graph?

linear: LINE example--- line non-linear: not a LINE example--- parabola The other possibility is a graph with a non-linear scale. First a linear scale will have each unit represent the same amount, regardless of where you are on the scale. A semilog scale, has a linear scale in the horizontal direction, and a logarithmic scale in the vertical direction. Exponential functions (such as ex & 10x), will graph as a straight line on this type of graph scale). A logarithmic or log-log scale, has logarithmic scales on both horizontal and vertical axis. Power functions (such as sqrt(x), x2 and x3), graph as a straight line on these scales. See Related Link

Linear function

What graph in which the data points don't fall along with a straight line?

A non-linear graph.

What is a non linear?

Equations without exponents generate straight lines when graphed, hence are called linear. If there is an exponent such as x2, then you get curved lines, and the graph is non linear.

What is a non linear number pattern?

does not form a staight line on a graph

What is a non linear g?

Equations without exponents generate straight lines when graphed, hence are called linear. If there is an exponent such as x2, then you get curved lines, and the graph is non linear.

What does non linear graph show?

"Dose" is a measured portion of a medicine. So a non linear graph could show the quantity of medication that is needed for different conditions. The condition may be the age of the patient, their mass, severity of illness. "Non-linear" means that the graph is not a straight line: the same change in the independent variable does not lead to the same change in the dosage.

What is a graph where the data points do not fall along a straight line is called?

There is no specific name. It could be a non-linear graph, or a scatter graph.
