x^2=1144

x=33.82306905

the perimeter distance is the same no matter what, above is a square solution. As the width or length get longer, the opposite side gets skinner. Not sure what you mean by the "smallest" perimeter. Normally these types of problems give you the length of one side, the relation of the other side to the first, and then the total area.

What is the largest and the smallest perimeter possible for a rectangle with a area of 24cm2?

The smallest perimeter is 4*sqrt(24) = approx 19.6 cm There is no largest perimeter.

What is the smallest possible perimeter for a shape that has an area of 120 centermetres?

Never heard of centermetres before, and an area cannot be 120 centimetres because that is a measure of distance, not area. Instead, let us start with an area of 120 SQUARE centimetres. For a given area, the shape with the smallest perimeter is a circle. A circle with an area of 120 sq cm would have a radius of 6.18 cm and so a perimeter of 38.83 cm (to 2 dp).

What is the smallest perimeter area 49cm?

I think this means we have a shape with a perimeter 39cm and we are asked what is the smallest area. It is a rectangle of length 19.5cm and width zero. Or perhaps it should read area 49 cm squared., what is the smallest periimeter. A circle with 49=pi x r2. Then perimeter=pi x 2r

What is the perimeter of 16 square centimeters?

There are an infinite number of shapes with an area of 16 square centimetres. The one with the smallest perimeter is a circle of radius 2.2568 cm (to 4 dp). Such a circle will have a perimeter of 14.1796 cm. This value for the perimeter can be increased by changing the circle into an ellipse: making the ellipse flatter and longer (increasing its eccentricity) so that the perimeter increases without changing the area. There is no upper bound to the perimeter. This can also be done for quadrilaterals, with the smallest one being a 4cm x 4cm square. But you could have a rectangle with sides 0.4 cm and 40 cm and a perimeter of 80.8 or 0.04 cm and 400 cm and a perimeter of 800.08 cm or 0.004 cm and 4000 cm and a perimeter of 8000.008 cm and so on - without limit. Or you could have triangles, or polygons with 5 or more sides. The important point is that area does not determine the perimeter.

What is the largest and the smallest perimeter posssible for a rectangle with a area of 36cm2?

The smallest perimeter is that for a square with sides of 6 cm. That is to say, a perimeter of 4*6 = 24 cm. There is no maximum. Suppose the shorter side is x cm. Then, for the area to be 36 cm2, the longer side must be 36/x cm Then the perimeter is 2x + 72/x cm. x can decrease towards 0 and as it does 72/x will increase without limit, making the perimeter "infinite". Try it: If smaller side 1 cm, then longer side = 36 cm and perimeter = 74 cm 0.1 cm 360 cm 720.2 cm 0.01 cm 3600 cm 7200.02 cm etc

What is the perimeter of 1200 centimeters squared?

Knowing the area doesn't tell the perimeter. There are an infinite number of different perimeters that can all enclose the same area. The shortest one is a circle. The next shortest is a square. From there, you can actually make the perimeter as large as you want, with no limit, while keeping the area constant. Examples: 30 cm by 40 cm . . . . area = 1,200 cm2 . . . perimeter = 140 cm 10 cm by 120 cm . . . area = 1,200 cm2 . . . perimeter = 260 cm 2 cm by 600 cm . . . . area = 1,200 cm2 . . . perimeter = 1,204 cm 1 cm by 1,200 cm. . . area = 1,200 cm2 . . . perimeter = 2,402 cm 1
