Well first think this... There's going to be a negative and a positive factor.

(+)*(-)=(-)

We know that the positive is going to be bigger because the 12 is not negative.

The only factors that make 8 are 2*4=8 and 1*8=8.

So it isn't possible to multiply -8 and add to 12.
