No, the wide prong is neutral it is the white wire. The narrow prong is hot it is the black wire. The round prong (in a 3 wire plug) is safety ground it is the green wire.
Ground wire
first, an engine heater has to have been installed on the vehicle. if the car did have an engine heater installed in it, most newer vehicles would have had a soft plug heater put in. soft plugs are located on the side of the engine block. they knock that plug out and install a heater in it. look for any ac wire( it will look like a three prong plug on any of your household appliances) in the engine compartment.
In a polarized plug, the wider prong is the neutral wire and the narrower prong is the hot wire.
Take the cover off the engine. The block heater wire is tucked away there in plain sight. You will know it by the 120v plug. It may have a cover over it. If you are looking for the actual block heater , follow the wire.
If you cann't see the wire then you probably don't have a block heater or the electric cord was removed. Check on the block to see if you find the heater itself. If you don't find it then you don't have a block heater!
The green wire is for ground. You can attach that to any metal part of the frame. The red is the active and coincides with the lefthand prong into the plug and the black in this case should be the Neutral and ciocides with the right prong into the plug as seen standing behind the plug.
The plug will be noticable, should be able to find the wire that looks like it is used in a home with 120v, should be run to the front bumper near the grill If you canno't find the wire then you most likely do not have a block heater
I don't know, but I would offer a suggestion. Block water heaters plug into an AC power source with a standard plug. Simply follow that wire to the block heater. They typically screw into either the block or the cylinder head. Hope that helps.
There is no glow plug on any civic that's diesel motors, not honda's. Question is about block heater, not glow plugs. Most Civic do not come with block heaters installed unless dealer or previous owner has installed it. On the 2000 Civic SI block heater is installed on the coolant drain plug on the engine block. This is located about 4" left of the oil dip stick. Might not be able to see with exhaust manifold. If you can see it, check to see if a wire is coming out and trace the wire to locate the plug. If not, and only see the bolt head, you do not have block heater installed.
Black wire to the gold screw, white wire to the silver screw, green wire to the round or U shaped prong screw.
The engine block heater cord for the 2009 Ford Flex is at the top front section of the engine, right above the radiator fan. Open the hood and look down toward the radiator, it is right in front on top of the radiator. The cord has a round cover on it. Remove the round cover and you will see the 3-prong plug-in.
