In geometrical terms, a one dimensional object would simply be a straight line, without height or width. It is difficult for us to imagiane from our 3 dimesional perspective as we imagiane a one dimensional object as a bit of string or a line on a bit of paper, however, this is not an accurate portrayal as they both exist in higher dimesions; the line exists on a 2 dimensional bit of paper, whilst a bit of string exists in 3 dimesional space.

Space can also be bounded or unbounded, which refers to whether a boundry exists to that space. A bounded 1 dimesional space would be a straight line with 2 separate ends. If you imagiane joining the ends to form a circle, you have an unbounded one dimensional space; from the point of view of a creature living in such a space you would eventually return to your point of origin if you walked far enough.

The topology (or shape) of space can be affected by higher dimesions that we may be unaware of, for example, if we where unaware of the 3rd dimesions, the surface of our globe would for an unbounded 2 dimensional space, we would percieve mountains as a unknown repulsive force and valleys as a similar attractive force. Current physics theories predict a far higher number of dimesions. it is thought that these will either be too large or too small for us to percieve.

"One dimesional" can also refer to a someone who has no "depth" and therefore has a "shallow" or fake personallity!
