Why did Sparta and Athens unite in the peloponnesian wars?

Sparta was a closed society, and losses of citizens in wars could not be replaced. These losses had been accumulating during the Peloponnese War in the 4th Century, and were compounded in the wars against the Theban confederation at Leuctra in 372 BCE, and Mantinea 362 BCE. As a consequence, as a rural community with a now low warrior strength, it simply didn't have the resources. Although Sparta joined with Arcadia and Achaea to block the pass at Thermopylae to prevent Philip of Macedon's push south, it subsequently decided it could no longer take the field with hostile neighbours Arcadia and Messenia (which Thebes had liberated from Spartan rule) threatening its territory. In consequence Sparta stayed at home as Philip overcame Greece.

What are the 9 flying records Amelia Earhart set?

Fractionally once, as she did not complete her last mission-Going missing in the vicinity of Howland Island. I begin to detect your idea if you added up all of her fligth mileage it might considerably go asround the globe several times but obviously this does not count. We had an automobile (l968 Ford) that by its odometer had a total of over 78,000 miles which would be(Three times around the Globe plus Italy and Back) but the car never left the Middle Atlantic states plus one or two small trips to Connecticut. Statistic can be misleading. the incomplete orbit does not count. This is the first time I"ve heard this unusual statistically-minded question popped.

How do you find out if you have an original Picasso sketch?

You would have to go to an art gallery and talk to one of the managers there and they will be able to tell you if you show it to them. Pablo Picasso did not paint in water colours anyway, he painted in oil. So it may be true that it is a fake but you still might be able to get quite a lot of money for it if you dont want to keep it. ........................................................................................................................................... Picasso did paint in watercolours, how to tell if it's original? well if it's for sale in a gallery and the price doesn't have lots of 000's involved, chances are its not an original, but then even if there are lots of 000's it may not be an original . If on the otherhand you have found one that is original i certainly would not trust any art gallery managers. Best contact a big auction house like Sotheby's. Picasso was incredibly prolific, originals will turn up from time to time, check the net for similarities to known work, later watercolours would be easier to authenticate, earlier more likely to turn up but harder to authenticate. Easiest way tho would be to put it on Ebay as a possible original with a buy it now price of say £80,000 and see if anyone tries to snap it up, if it's original you'll have lost quite a bit of profit, but in the meantime if it is an original many experts will start contacting you to see it in the flesh.... at this point you withdraw the item from sale... and think about hiring a bodyguard.! (:personally i wouldn't put it in a bank vault , call me paranoid but i wouldn't trust them to hand back an original Picasso, as bankers are the worst kind of criminals...:) If it's definitely not original you'll only get silence. Hope this helps, and really hope you've found one, can i delete the first response above now pls.... i think he is an art gallery manager!!! dont trust them y'all :)
