A generator is usually mounted outside on a concrete pad near the fuel source. You will need to prepare a location that is flat and has good water drainage. The unit should be located away from doors and windows in a well ventilated area to prevent exhaust gases from entering the home. It is recommended to have an electrician install the unit.

What you need to know before operating your generator:

  • Read the instructions in the owner's manual and have a good understanding of how the generator works.
  • Follow the maintenance procedures for a safe and trouble-free operation.
  • Do not exceed the manufacturer's load ratings for the generator.
  • You should operate the generator at least two times a year at full load to keep it in good condition.

Good inforamtion.

But before you buy a generator. Have an electrician. Do a total load check on your house. Find out how many amps you will need to run what you have to during a power failure. This way you can buy the correct one. Always buy one with a little more power than you need. No good to buy a 50 AMP generator and find out you need a 100 amp unit.
