NO they are not ALL the same! Case in point: Some manufacturers, Pilot from experience, claim their amber repla1157 LED replaces the 2057 amber specifically in a C4 Corvette front turn signal. However the locking tabs on the side of the bulb are at the same height on the Pilot bulb rather than different heights on the bulb so they do not lock into the GM bulb socket. It may flash and work temporarily...until it rattles out of the socket.
1157 has 3cp and 2057 has 2cp
* - I would like a clarification of what 3cp & 2cp mean.....
The 1157 & 2057 bulbs ARE a direct swap, have the same number of contacts and filaments......not counting an aftermarket LED bulb which may have been produced/labeled improperly.
From my information the 2057 has a slightly brighter brake illumination. That is only difference.
cp = candle power, the more candle power the brighter the light and the more heat it gives off, ever see melted lenses from incorrect bulbs?
The 0 and the 3 obviously.
The 2057 is a clear bulb. The 2057 NA (Natural Amber) bulb is a tinted Amber ( yellow ) bulb for signal lights etc.
Check bulbs Check stop light switch Also make sure you have the right bulbs model 2057 bulbs.
There are several different types of cars that uses the bulb sized 2057. A Toyotas, Honda, Chevrolets, Ford and several other makes use them.
maybe wrong bulbs 2057 or 3157 or 1156
I have a 95 GC ZJ that had the same problem- pull your tail lights, you probably have 1157 bulbs in your brake lights, and they work fine. The dash comp reads these as not working, the proper bulbs are 2057, different resistances. Swap em out, dash fault gone. If that doesnt fix it- check the little bulbs on the sides of the tail light assembly, there little push in bulbs- replace if needed i have this same problem with my 98 try checking the little lights at the top of the hatch just behind the glass.
