The 1999 Jeep Cherokee ignition coil used a black wire for the negative wire. The negative wire should be on the left post.
red (+) wire to possitive side of coil- Black (-) wire to negative side of coil. thats it.
green.
Hook it to the negative side of the coil.
assuming it is a older car with points the distributor goes to the negative side of the coil
the green is the signal wire and it goes to the negative side of the ignition coil
The green wire from the tach goes to the negative side of the coil.
If your car has a distributor it is the negative on the coil.

The dark green/orange wire is the power feed.
follow the instructions, if you have no instructions then ussualy one wire to negative side of coil and the other wire goes to ground.
The green wire is supposed to go to the negative wire of the coil , that is usually a white wire, but make sure that the tachometer documents tell you to use the negative wire it is usually the white wire. If you have a test light hook the cramp to the negative of the battery and check the two wires if the light glows that is the positive, connect the green wire to the other wire it will be the negative. There are some that say to use the positive, ""PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTION VERY CAREFULLY"" Or you could short out the coil and the igition module.
