Vaseline on a clubface does not make your ball carry further, however it does take most of the 'hook' or 'slice' out of the shot if that's what you do. The reason this happens is the 'greasy' surface stops the club face putting a spin on the ball and therfore prevents the possibility of the ball deviating left or right. It won't save a bad shot however. A scam on the internet sells the 'Hustlers Secret' to supposedly better your Golf for $50 to any one stupid enough to pay. All you get for your money is an email telling you to go buy some vaseline. For the record it is illegal by golf rules to use anything on a club face.
