Take the number of miles of your trip. Divide by your fuel economy (miles per gallon). This will get the number of gallons needed. Then multiply by the expected price per gallon.

Gasbuddy has a neat tool, which you can input make and model of vehicle (and estimate the fuel economy if you do not know it), along with where you are traveling to and from, then it will give suggestions of where to fill up based on reported gas prices along your route. It picks the least expensive reported prices.

If gas is 3. 65 per gallon how much will it cost me to drive 1980 miles?

That depends on your mileage. Take your vehicle's mileage and divide it into the 1980 mile length of your trip. That will give you your gas consumption - it will tell you how much gas you'll use. Then take that figure and multiply it by the $3.65 which is your per gallon cost, and you'll know what the gas costs to make the trip. 1980 divided by vehicle's mileage equals amount of gas used. Answer from above times $3.65 equals cost of gas for the trip.
