Velocity = Distance ÷ Time, therefore Time = Distance ÷ Velocity.
Both vehicles travel the same distance (D).
Let T be the time taken by Vehicle 1.
Then T = D/80 ........so D = 80T
For the second vehicle as it takes 2 hours less to travel the same distance then,
T - 2 = D/120..........so D = 120(T - 2)
Equating the two expressions for D gives,
80T = 120(T - 2) = 120T - 240
40T = 240
T = 240/40 = 6 hours.
Then the time for Vehicle 2 = 6 - 2 = 4 hours.
Check : Vehicle 1 travels 6 x 80 = 480 miles
Vehicle 2 travels 4 x 120 = 480 miles
